We endured eight year's of (Falling Down) can we not at least give this President the satisfaction of restoring our integrity . He is going to make miscalculations and step on some toes but all and all he will give us our right to lift our heads high again . We will never be the most looked up to Nation again.
We have been asleep too long , and we still are. We still think we are not at the mercy of the terrorists , we still drive SUV's. WE still pay the CEO copious amounts of $$$ , we are still being devoured by the mistakes of the last 8 years. We are a nation of sheep....

Well my friend its' time to wake up and shed those expensive habits of yours and see the light . I'm a gay man still waiting to be liberated , but I cannot fight for my country or marry the one that I call my better half , you have made us the target of your hate ...waiting , waiting , waiting ....

I've been here before my dear , look at my profile , I have 33 friends , and I have fought this war before. There are people on CCT that I like very much. But I do not !@#$%-foot around. If I cannot tell you who I am , just think how fun it is to be in the service , which I am not . Or for that matter having to defend myself against heteros who think if you are not married or have a women on each arm by the time you are 30 , are you Gay , they ask ? So who in the straight world don't ask. And mostly I have to fend off religious fanatics who throw their god in the way. As for attacking someone , I do not see it . Difficulties , no , not everyone has them . But thanks for your concern.
Ryan, I cannot imagine how it must feel to be gay in this country and know you are not fully accepted for who you are. I am sorry you cannot marry whoever you want or fight for your country without the need to hide a part of who you are. You live in a conservative, god fearing, homophobic country, but there are some here who are happy to accept you. We can be the ones who help change the culture. With our support, it doesn't have to be a battle, it can be a movement.
Dennis , thanks for the encouraging words. I mean it! There has to be dialog before we can have a movement . I keep hearing that I am on the attack. And I do not get it ! They do not want to hear that I'm gay , they say I am flaunting my sexuality , driving it down their throats . (No pun intended) I said I was gay which is a word that I detest , but for the lack of another it has to stay . The parades have done nothing to bring us along , see eds comment , I am not hurting I'm pissed-off . Again thanks !
Live and let live.
Dave, what you see as unoffensive can be very offensive to some. I see straight couples making out in public all the time, is that offensive to you? Would it be if it was two males or two females?

In the end, who really cares? If it's not really hurting you, then why should you have an opinion in the matter? I know you believe in god, but you certainly wont be going to hell for others transgressions. Though, it's sad to think that people like you think that gays will be going to hell, because if you are right, it's your god that created them the way that they are. There is no denying the fact that gays were born the way that they are, there is no way to change that (even if we wanted to). I say let them live the lives they were meant to have. If two human beings decide they want to spend their lives together, let them have it, and let them have the same rights as every other couple. You are fighting the unwinnable (not a word)/unjustifiable fight, might as well let them have their rights, and then everyone will shut up about this.

PS...if you don't like looking at something, divert your eyes, or say no thank you. That's what I do every time I get someone knocking on my door to sell me their religion. I find it offensive, but you don't see me trying to stop them.
What Ryan and "his kind" don't seem to understand is that "homophobia" (the visceral aversion to the mental image of gay sex) is no more a choice for some of us than they claim homosexuality is for them. One doesn't choose his gut instincts.

And apparently, they won't be satisfied until they succeed in changing us. How ironic.
So every time you say a gay person, you think about them having sex?
I meant **see**. My mind must have been other places LOL
why in the world would you jump immediately to a mental image of anyone having sex ... that is a bit disturbing. Nothing in Ryan's post mentioned anything about sex.

I suspect that a mental image of you, Bill, having sex might be disturbing to ryan too ... but I can't imagine why that would even occur to him.

geeeeez
I could not bare it , the mental image of those two having sex , with anything. Thanks for responding. Yes , I don't know why the sex scene came into the discussion. Every one is saying mental sex . I was trying to give the President a little room to do his thing , and I implied that I can wait , for any decisions on DADT . Dave and Bill need to loosen those suspenders and chill . I for one do not need their approval . Thank you for responding. ryan
You have to really spell-it-out Josie , I'm sure he thought there was something to put through me. lol
amen!!!!

Ryan ... I hope you won't be waiting too much longer. California should be ashamed of itself for defteating prop 8
