I love to read but have a hard time starting books. I usually look for recommendations from others as to what books they recently loved reading.... so?
Deb turned me on to Twilight and I really enjoyed it, so now I'm on to the second, New Moon. Also, my student teacher has me reading The Other Boleyn Girl right now - we both loved "The Tudors" on HBO.
I was skeptical about the Twilight series, thinking they were just for teens. I was so wrong. If you want to fall in love with a fictional character, dive in. I wish I could choose my dreams... Edward would be on the menu tonight if I could!
Oh, and SLO Swim also lent me a book on CD called A Death In Belmont about the Boston Strangler and the trial of a man thought to be responsible for one of his crimes. I'm really enjoying it too.
Love the Tudors as well Mel! haha i like how that sounds The other Boleyn Girl is also a movie. k books Ive read tons of Debbie Macomber books lately. Some are western romance, others take place in Seattle; they are easy reads and keep me entertained! I agree Mel it is hard to get started, once I get stuck on a certain author is hard to move on.

Most pleasureful and hilarious book I've read lately is Anybody Out There? by Marion Keyes. The book opens in Dublin, Ireland with Anna Walsh, the main character, recovering from who know's what -- the story doesn't reveal right away -- on her parents couch. As the story unfolds she is desperate to return to her life in NYC, but when she returns she must face the events that put her on her folk's couch in the first place. This book deals with painful circumstances in humorous ways -- I wonder if Marion Keyes writes books just so she has a place to put all her sayings and witticisms. I think you'd like it for the wit and writing style which flows at a quick, crisp pace like a brisk morning walk. And all the supporting characters are true "characters". Read an excerpt from Chapter One.

Secrets of the Temple. It was written in 1988 about the workings of the Federal Reserve Bank. It's very interesting given what we're living through today. Anyone would enjoy it. Not just people who are deeply into or involved with the financial world.

I'm on the last half of the last book in the Twilight series and I don't want it to end! I also love the forensic details in Patricia Cornwells' novels and the laugh out loud humor of Janet Evanovich. (Note to Mel and Vanessa....talk about sexy Edward, you should read one of Evanovich's books and meet "Ranger".) Her books all have a number in the title and I've read 13 of them so far. Reading is my second favorite guilty pleasure and my favorite mind escape. Two of my most favorite books I've ever read though, would be The Kite Runner and The Time Traveler's Wife. For classics, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.
I need to start reading again!! I haven't read a book since last Fall!! That's a looong time for me to go without a good book :) The last books I read were, Don't Sleep with a Bubba, by Susan Reinhold and When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris.
im reading a book called I will by ben sweetland and I got my hands on a book that isn't out yet called the optimal health revolution...i am soo excited to read it!
