I love to read but have a hard time starting books. I usually look for recommendations from others as to what books they recently loved reading.... so?
A 1950's book by Admiral Charles "Uncle Charlie" Lockwood called Sink 'em All.
Admiral Lockwood was the commander and chief of the Pacific fleet during WWII after Admiral English died in a plane crash.
This may sound weird but. many years ago I took a tour of the USS Pompanito, a Balao / Gato class submarine moored in San Fransisco. When I stepped on board and went below, I felt like I had been there before. It was truly a weird feeling. I seemed to know where things were and prior to this never have been on board a sub.
So I started reading about subs in the pacific theater. Have read many books from the Captains of various subs and compilations by various authors like Clay Blair. I wanted to read something from the person in charge and what he (yes it may sound sexist, but in those days that was all there was) had to deal with.
There you have it. Maybe boring to some, but I find history interesting.
